# Deploy open-source software on exe.dev

Each recipe is a tested, step-by-step guide to running one piece of software on an exe.dev VM: a persistent Linux machine with a disk, HTTPS at https://<vm>.exe.xyz/ (private until you share it), and SSH. Every recipe can also deploy itself: its Deploy button creates a VM whose agent, Shelley, follows the recipe. From a terminal: `curl -fsSL https://exe.dev/deploy/<slug>/prompt.txt | ssh exe.dev new --prompt=/dev/stdin`.

Append `.md` to any recipe's URL for its markdown, or `/manifest.json` for a machine-readable summary.
